Thanks to its excellent situation on the edge of Zuidwolde, the Steenbergerhoeve can offer many opportunities for recreation. On its own land it has a recreation and sports field of approximately 1 hectare, suitable for a variety of outdoor activities. There is a spot for angling, adapted to the needs of the less physically able, 200 metres away.

Zuidwolde is a little like a microcosm of the province of Drenthe: it not only has beautiful woodland, heath and nature reserves but also many kilometres of paths for cycling and rambling.

There is always plenty to do as regards sport, recreation and culture. And living permanently in Zuidwolde or merely passing through is always pleasurable. Activity increases yearly, with the local enterprises continually keeping pace with developments and using them to advantage. It is a pleasant place to be, with innumerable facilities for day trippers and those in search of recreation – in other words, something for everyone. Various walking and cycling routes can be obtained from the reception desk. A variety of special arrangements and excursions are also possible.
